History
Jerome J. Parks founded the original company in 1959. Early projects included multifamily apartment complexes, government contracting and commercial redevelopment. Today Mr. Parks and the companies
focus primarily on creating exceptional mixed-use developments that maintain the highest possible standards of design and environmental excellence. As a leader in the field of community, commercial,
and business development, Mr. Parks has sought and implemented new methods of development that are lauded by some environmental groups as farthinking and particularly considerate of the delicate
ecological balance that supports the Chesapeake Bay.
The principals of the companies are committed to philanthropic endeavors, especially in the field of the arts. Mr. Parks serves as Chairman of the Board of the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts, which seeks to identify young, emerging artists and encourage them with moral and financial support. The Parks Companies have been regular supporters of Maryland Hall and the Ballet Theatre
of Annapolis. Other groups receiving both donations and participation in fundraising include the Kennedy Center, Children's Hospital and
the Jewish National Fund.
The Parks Companies have consistently garnered awards and appreciation for their projects. Chesapeake Harbour won Anne Arundel County's first annual award for excellence in development. The Parks
Companies have been noted for sensitivity to environmental issues and received awards of excellence from the Home Builders Association for several projects. Numerous articles and reports
conceming the companies' achievements and plans have appeared in periodicals and newspapers over the years. We welcome such attention, because we firmly believe in fostering an active dialogue
conceming growth and change among all members of the community we serve. The Jerome J. Parks Companies will continue to provide thoughtful leadership in the field of development in the coming decade,
